Spring is here and we’re completing our planting season at the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project – the largest tidal wetland restoration project on the West Coast! Restoring a 600-acre former salt pond at Eden Landing to thriving tidal wetlands will increase habitat for endangered birds and fish, and provide new recreation opportunities to residents who have been walled off from the shoreline for decades. Volunteers will help Save The Bay meet our goal to plant 25,000 native seedlings this season!

Spring has arrived, and so have the invasive species! Come out to the MLK shoreline and help us pull out the non-natives like Russian Thistle and Mustard. Nestled in between the Coliseum and the Oakland airport, this park includes some of the last remaining wetland habitat in the East Bay and provides a home for many species, including the endangered California clapper rail and burrowing owls.

Help celebrate our state flower with Save The Bay at the Martin Luther King Jr. Shoreline Park! We’re sowing the seeds of our next batch of native species like the gum plant, jaumea and the California poppy. Volunteers are needed to help sow seeds, collect native cuttings and perform general maintenance.

Celebrate the end of tax season at the South Bay Salt Ponds! Volunteers will be part the largest tidal wetland restoration project on the West Coast! Come on out and sing with the robins while we remove invasive species from the shoreline. For every invasive you remove at the Martin Luther King Jr. Shoreline Park, another space opens up for a native plant to thrive. Please volunteer to help Save The Bay improve the health of the Bay by weeding and cleaning up the shoreline.

Help celebrate Cinco De Mayo with Save The Bay at the Martin Luther King Jr. Shoreline Park! The weather is starting to warm up and we are busy growing new plants for next winter. Volunteers are needed to help us collect and sow native seed and perform general maintenance around the nursery.

Celebrate the National Rivers Day in the South Bay Salt Ponds! Volunteers will be part the largest river clean-up on the west coast! Thousands of volunteers will be collecting trash from the rivers and creeks surrounding the Bay Area all morning. Join the masses and help restore this 600-acre former salt pond with Save The Bay!
