Guest Post: Angel Island Lights

Guest post from the Angel Island Association about their upcoming Angel Lights Countdown Benefit:

Angel Island Association, a non-profit partner organization, supports Angel Island State Park by funding projects designed to create an awe-inspiring visitor experience, and creating a community devoted to preserving and enhancing the island’s unique natural and cultural history. Each December AIA hosts a fundraiser, encouraging private and corporate sponsors to light up the night sky.

Beginning on the evening of the Benefit and throughout the month of December, the Angel Lights shine from the top of Angel Island.

“We are inspired by the commitment of our community helping to make Angel Island a favorite bay area destination,” said Amy Brees Angel Island State Park Superintendent. “Successfully keeping our cherished state parks open, follows from our ability to provide a wonderful visitor experience.”

What started out as a lone memorial light, in recent years, has become a collection of lights creating a beacon for all in the Bay Area to see. “Because of the Angel Lights’ popularity, the Countdown has become a much-anticipated event,” says Gail Dolton, Board President of AIA. “The Benefit this year will not only help to keep all of the iconic State Park’s lights on, but to support our efforts to implement the Interpretation Master Plan, jointly developed by AIA and its State Park partners, which provides a roadmap for future enhancements to the island.

The Countdown Benefit will be held on December 1st at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon, CA. Ticket prices start at $75 and include food, drinks, live music, and a live auction hosted by Doug McConnell of Bay Area Backroads fame.
